Friendship is nothing that Fairytales and Storms can't Weather

Drew is my best friend in the whole wide world, yet he makes me the craziest at times.. I think that's how love is..
Our story starts us back in highschool, in 10th grade, over the book "The Great Gatsby."

Both Drew and I had been in Amy Vandebergs 4th hour English. Drew had to switch classes and was now in my class. 4th hour was the hated class, if memory serves me correctly... One morning early on in that semester, before school began, Drew was working on some last minute homework about "The Great Gatsby". That morning in the library, I was working on the same homework. I didnt understand the book and I thought it was stupid, but I needed to get it done. I reconized Drew from class, but we had never met, so I introduced myself. At that time, I had no idea what adventure I was to embark on.

I asked Drew for some help on a question and he often refers to this moment as " I was cheating off him"..whatever...

Little did the two of us know that morning was jsut the beginning of a close friendship, and later a serious relationship.

Life isn't a fairytale, but a day at the lake...

I love having mulitple parents in my life who love me unconditonally. One of these parents is my great friend Cricket. Cricket has been my prayer partner this past year and I have used all of her prayers greatly. Currently, she and her husband, Brad, are trying to sell their house in order for them to start building on their lake property.

We spent the day with Cricket, church family and her family at the Lake. It feels like heaven there.. No worries, no phones ringing, simple solitude in the middle of God's creation.

Wedding Bands

Drew and I are in the process of buying wedding bands.. They just look so stupid on my finger with my ring.. I hate all of them.. I have tried on so many plain or with diamonds and they all look dumb..
It is kinda frustrating.. Drew found his wedding band right away, but I am having no such luck!
Hopefully, I will find one soon!!

Tomorrow is the big move! We both are so excited for FREEDOM!!!

Bridal Shower #1

This weekend, I had my first Bridal shower hosted by the grooms family. We had a blast and even played some awesome Disney Shower games. My soon to be sister-in-law organized two different disney games.

The first game was listening to some disney lyrics and trying to figure out what movie they from.

The second game was a fun game about which female character goes with a male disney character.

Example: Mickey ___________ (Minnie is the answer)

Belle: _____________________(Beast is the answer)

Of course, I got all of these questions right!! I won a prize.

My shower was a blast and I recieved a lot of neat gifts.
It was very fun to spend time with family and friends .. The party was great and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves..

Here are pictures.. .

The Wedding Cake

Our Cake is going to look very similar to this cake. Our cake topper is a different Minnie and Mickey that we bought when Drew and I were in Disney World, this past December.

Christmas is the best time to visit Disney World. It is so magical. We had such a ball with Mickeys Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Osbourne Spectacle of Lights at Hollywood Studios. Our trip was very inspiring for our wedding plans.. We bought lots of things that we are going to use in our wedding.

If i forgot to mention, our colors are teal blue (tiffany blue or mermaid) and black. We thing the two colors look very sharp together and will be beautiful for a July wedding in Michigan!

A Master

In the process of trying to plan a wedding, I have been finishing my Masters Degree in Social Work. I have been busy interning, working and wedding planning. Thankfully, my 12-14 hr days have ended and I finally graduated.

As you may notice in picture one, I have a mickey on my cap.. Our ceremony was held in Van Andel Arena which holds about twenty thousand people. Six thousand students were graduating from Grand Valley, so my family would have a hard time spotting me. I decided to cut out a huge pink Mickey Head and attach it to my cap so i would be easily spotted by family..

They were able to see me from very far away.. They said " your mickey head was so noticeable, we are so glad you put that on your cap."

I forgot to post this two weeks ago because I have been so busy with wedding plans and running..

I need to get running to lose some weight to get skinny for when I go to visit Mickey Mouse!

Paper Lanterns

Here is an example of what they might look at your special event!
The colors for our Disney Themed wedding are aqua blue and black.. I think they are great colors together!
The knot.com has paper lanterns on sale for three days!

I was able to get 8 aqua paper lanterns and 8 white paper lanterns for $30, which makes them $1.99 a piece...
If you know anything about paper lanterns, certain colors sell right away. .I havent been able to get aqua paper lanterns.. they have been out of stock everywhere online..

Cannot wait for them to come in the mail!

These will look beautiful at our reception!

A disney wedding??

You probably wonder how can one have a Disney wedding in Michigan?
Well, if you know me at all, you know I am a disney freak... Completely!!!

Our wedding theme is a " A night of Disney Magic." Drew and I are having a Mickey and Minnie themed wedding. Our wedding style is more classical disney. We aren't doing a kid Mickey and Minnie style, but rather a more elegant flare with Mickey and Minnie
Our colors are a sea foam green and black.. Super sharp! We are doing a lot of things by hand and with lots of creativity.
I will post more of our " Disney" theme later on in my posts.. And I will show you lots of pictures..

Wedding Plans

Our wedding is on July 10, 2010.

The ceremony will be at Olivet Reformed Church in Grandville, Michian.
Pastor Joshua Baron, a dear friend and great mentor will perform the ceremony.
Their will be many unique details to following in the coming posts..

The Proposal

Drew orginally planned on proposing the weekend prior, during a trip up to Traverse City area. He, however, sensed I had winds of his plans, so he made other arrangments upon returning to work that monday. Working second-shift, Drew was able to get the following Friday evening off. As cover, he told me that one of his co-workers nedded switch shifts for a friday evening, giving him a rare evening off. In a not-uncommon move, Drew asked me if I wanted to go out to Holland to eat and see the sunset.

I, however, knew of his plans. I was on the phone with my Aunt that day and I told her, "he never gets a friday night off, I think he is going to propose." She said, "well, act noncholant."

He had no idea that I knew.. I love it

While in Holland, we made a trip to Barnes and Noble. I always want to visit this store, so ths day it was no different. While there, Drew purchased a book of questions. The book contained hundreds of questions about relationship.

We made the trek to Holland State Park and Drew began asking some of the questions out of the book. I could start to see Drew was getting nervous and he was acting funny about me wanting to walk on the pier.. He said, " well lets keep going through a few more questions" so we began to go back and forth answering questions. The sun began to set and the weather was starting to get cold. Drew sensed I was becoming Ansy, go figure! Drew convinced me we would only be there a few more minutes. Drew began to ask me an off the wall question.. no supris

And then he got on one knee and asked the important question: "Will you marry me?"

I confessed later on that I saw right through his story about getting working off.

Regardless, I was speechless and giddy in response.
